San Francisco Giants World Series Championship Trophy Tour Coming to Chukchansi Park

FRESNO, Calif. - The San Francisco Giants World Series Championship Trophy Tour, presented by Bank of America, makes its third stop in five years at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno on Tuesday, February 24th with a free public viewing from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. There is a strong Fresno connection to the three championships, as 15 of the 25 players on the Giants' 2010 World Series roster played for the Grizzlies prior to the championship run, while 17 former Grizzlies were on each of the 2012 and 2014 World Series rosters.

"It's important for us to honor our heritage with the Giants," stated Grizzlies Executive Vice President Derek Franks. "Add up the players on those championship rosters and there are 32 former Grizzlies' players who put on our uniform before going on to win a championship. There's not another Triple-A Baseball franchise to have that level of success in this century.

The trophy viewing is one of three ways the Fresno Grizzlies will celebrate the 2014 championship. The second comes when the Grizzlies give away 2014 San Francisco Giants World Series Championship Replica Rings, presented by Fresno Coin Gallery, during their Saturday, April 25, 2015 home game. The third and final way will be on Saturday, June 6th when the Grizzlies give away a Farm Grown Joe Panik bobblehead, presented by Phoenix Coatings, Inc. Last season, Panik batted .321 (94-293) with 14 doubles, four triples, five homers and 45 RBI in 72 games with Fresno prior to his promotion to the Giants, earned Pacific Coast League Player of the Week honors (4/28-5/4) and also appeared in the Grizzlies YouTube video series Between Two Bats.

All three trophies will be available for a free public viewing on a first-come, first-served basis, while a $2 donation is suggested to help lend support to the Junior Giants program in the Central Valley. Barricades will be placed at Gate 2 (H Street) starting at 9:00 a.m. to help form a line for the general public. Once inside, a professional photographer will be present to capture the signature moment when fans get their moment with the trophies. Those photographs are available for purchase onsite or online at www.sfgiants.com.

"We saw in 2012 how powerful it was for us to create a trophy tour which not only allowed us to connect with our fans, but also with the more than 22,000 kids who participate in our Junior Giants baseball program. It's an honor to have the opportunity to do so again," said Larry Baer, Giants president and chief executive officer.

The Junior Giants Program of Fresno, which will be benefited by the donation, is a free eight-week, co-ed baseball program for less-fortunate youth of ages 5-12. The program is ran by local agencies and organizations, families and volunteers to make it possible for Junior Giants to reach communities and offers youth the opportunity to be a part of a team and learn the basics of baseball.

During the tour, also sponsored by Tiffany & Co., the trophies will be transported to and from Chukchansi Park in a 2014 Tundra 1794 Edition CrewMax and a 2014 RAV4 Limited, courtesy of Toyota.

The World Series Championship rosters from 2010, 2012 and 2014 all consisted of at least 15 players who had Fresno ties. Six of those players were on two of the World Series roster, while five were on three. Below are all 32 players to play for the Grizzlies prior to winning a World Series Championship with San Francisco.
