San Diego Wave FC News Release
Louisville, KY - San Diego Wave FC (1-1-1, 4 points) played Racing Louisville (0-0-4, 4 points) to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Lynn Family Stadium.
San Diego dominated the first half, as the Wave prevented Louisville from registering a shot on target, while out-possessing the home side (58.7%-41.3%).
In an end-to-end second half, forward Sofia Jakobsson received a ball inside the box in the 61st minute. The Sweden international cut her defender and hit a curving shot to the far post that went just wide. With limited time remaining, Wave goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan made the biggest save of the night in the 87th minute when Louisville Emma Sears hit a cross into the six-yard box that found Racing substitute Ary Borges. The Brazilian's header required a diving save from Sheridan to deny the opportunity and earn her season-high fourth save of the 2024 campaign.
Racing Louisville appeared to take the lead in the 71st minute, but a goal from Taylor Flint was overturned following Video Review that noted an offside player for Louisville.
Next on the schedule: San Diego Wave FC remain on the road as the club travels to Orlando to face the Pride on Friday, April 19 at Inter&Co Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m. PT on Amazon Prime.

Notes:
Rookie Kennedy Wesley made her professional debut with a start at center back. Wesley was drafted with the Wave's first-round draft pick (13th overall) in the 2024 NWSL Draft.
Midfielder Kimmie Ascanio made her professional debut, coming on as a substitute in the 76th minute. The 16-year-old signed for the Wave on March 22, 2024 and became the fourth-youngest player to appear in a NWSL regular season game.
Goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan earned her second shutout of the season (tied for first in NWSL), while securing four saves for a season-high.
Dating back to last season, the Wave are unbeaten in their last four road games in all competitions (W3 D1). That is tied for the longest road unbeaten streak of draws to start and NWSL regular season (ORL, LOU).
Defender Naomi Girma (thigh) and midfielder Melanie Barcenas (hip) were unavailable due to injury for today's match.
