San Diego Sockers News Release
The San Diego Sockers travel to Texas to renew an old rivalry with the Dallas Sidekicks on Saturday, November 17. The Sockers and Sidekicks were foes in the Major Indoor Soccer League during the 80s and 90s, and then again the 2010s in the Premier Arena Soccer League and MASL. Dallas returns to the league after a one-year hiatus. The teams will meet twice during the regular season.
San Diego will train for four consecutive days beginning tonight at the Sockers Indoor Center located on the East side of the Valley View Casino Center parking lot.
40th ANNIVERSARY SEASON
The Sockers are celebrating their 40th anniversary this season. "Legacy of Champions Since 1978" is the slogan to be used during the marketing campaign which features a wide variety of online, gameday, apparel and promo giveaway elements. Sockers.com/history
SOCKERS INFUSE NEW TALENT
San Diego had a busy offseason acquiring six veteran players via trade or free agency for the 2018-19 season. Taylor Walter Bond (F - Tacoma), Christian Gutierrez (M - El Paso), Guerrero Pino (D - Kansas City), Travis Pittman (M - FA), Manuel Rojo (D - El Paso) and Christian Segura (M - Sonora),
SAYING GOODBYE TO SAN DIEGO
Several players departed San Diego during the offseason, including Matt Clare (Tacoma), Anthony Medina (Retirement), Luan Oliveira (Milwaukee), John Sosa (Kansas City), and Max Touloute (Florida).
San Diego dropped a 6-4 decision to the Monterrey Flash in the MASL Western Conference Championship game in Mexico.
