The San Diego Sockers open their 2018-19 MASL campaign at home against the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas on Ron Newman Night.

NEW PODCAST DEBUTS ON MIGHTY 1090

The Sockers announced the creation of a new weekly podcast, produced by the Sockers in conjunction with radio partner The Mighty 1090-AM in San Diego. "Sockers Overtime", featuring hosts Craig Elsten and Nate Abaurrea, will record on Mondays beginning on November 19, and will be available to play and download in the afternoon. The podcast will be hosting on The Mighty 1090 app, and available for subscription and download on all major podcast platforms, such as Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, and Spotify.

SOCKERS ACQUIRE TWO PLAYERS IN TRADE

The Sockers made a four-player trade with the Ontario Fury, acquiring forward Leonardo De Oliveira and defender Juan Gonzalez from Ontario in exchange for goalkeeper Chris Toth and forward Andy Lorei on November 13.

LATE START FOR SOCKERS

Starting on December 16, the Sockers will be the last team to begin play this season. Each MASL team will have played at least one game before San Diego starts the season in MASL game #28.

Kraig Chiles' power play goal at 5:06 of the fourth quarter snapped a 3-3 tie, and Cesar Cerda added an empty-netter from beyond midfield as the 14-time champion San Diego Sockers defeated the Dallas Sidekicks 5-3 in a Major Arena Soccer League preseason match at the Allen Event Center. Boris Pardo made eight saves in net to preserve the victory in San Diego's lone preseason contest.

Chiles tallied the game- winning goal and added one assist to be named the #1 Star.

Entrenched as the #1 keeper, Pardo made eight saves against Dallas to earn the victory.

Escoto opened the scoring for San Diego with a goal at 1:39 of the 2nd period.
