San Diego Sockers News Release

SAN DIEGO - The 14-time champion San Diego Sockers embark on a short one-game road trip to the Pacific Northwest to face the Tacoma Stars on Friday, December 1, 7:35 p.m., at the accesso ShoWare Center. The game will be broadcast live on MASL.TV.

San Diego had a perfect November earning a 4-0 record to lead the Pacific Division. The last time the Sockers played was on November 19 when they shutout Ontario at home 8-0, behind a solid performance by goalkeeper Chris Toth. Captain Kraig Chiles leads the MASL in points (13), goals (10), PPG avg (3.25), and GWG (3). Toth leads the league with a 2.50 GAA and a .833 save percentage.

Tacoma's two wins this season have been over the winless Turlock Express. Joey Gjertsen, Alex Megson and Philip Lund have each scored four goals for the Stars this season, with Gjertsen leading the team in points with seven, adding two assists to his total. Danny Waltman has started all four games in goal and has now made 46 straight starts over the past three seasons for the Stars.

The Sockers hold an 8-2 advantage over the Stars over the past two seasons, but five of those games were decided by just one goal including an 8-7 double-overtime victory for San Diego in leg one of the 2016 MASL playoffs. Each of the Stars two wins have come at the ShoWare Center.

Supporters are encouraged to attend the watch party at Hooters, Mission Valley. The game will be broadcast live on MASL.TV.

San Diego returns to the Valley View Casino Center on Sunday, December 3, 5:05 p.m., for a match against Sonora. The first 2,500 fans will receive a free Team Poster and following the match, players will be available on the field for autographs.

Tickets are on sale now at AXS.com or by calling 866-799-GOAL (4625).
