
San Diego Gulls Sign Center Tyler Soy to One-Year Contract

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed center Tyler Soy to a one-year contract through the 2018-19 AHL season.
Soy, 21 (2/10/97), recorded a career high 36-56' points with a +15 rating and 42 penalty minutes (PIM) in 66 games last season with the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The 5-11, 175-pound center ranked second on the Royals in goals, assists, points and PPG (12) to help Victoria to the WHL Playoffs for a sixth consecutive season, netting a hat trick (3-0=3) in his lone playoff contest on Mar. 29 at Vancouver.
Selected by Anaheim in the seventh round (205th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Soy scored 151-176=327 points with a +99 rating and 128 PIM in 323 games for Victoria from 2012-18, setting club records for career goals, assists, points and games played.
The Richmond, British Columbia native made his professional debut with San Diego on Apr. 8, 2017, and went scoreless in two regular-season games with the Gulls during the 2016-17 season.
