San Antonio Talons Visit the Graveyard Saturday Night

New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS (June 7, 2012) - The New Orleans VooDoo (5-6) will look to defend The Graveyard this Saturday night as the high-flying San Antonio Talons (8-3) come to town. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Talons claimed this season's earlier matchup, 68-42, in the Alamodome, and enter Saturday's matchup with the VooDoo having won 6 of their last 7 games, including a 5-game winning streak.

"This is a really good football team that a lot of people have ranked in the top three if not top two teams in the league," said VooDoo Head Coach Pat O'Hara about San Antonio. "They are really good at getting after the passer, and have one of the best quarterbacks to have ever played the game."

Talons QB Aaron Garcia is in his 18th year in the AFL, and has thrown for over 52,000 yards and 1,100 touchdowns - two of many AFL career records Garcia owns. So far this season, Garcia has thrown for 2,967 yards and 69 touchdowns to pace the Talons in the National Conference Central Division.

VooDoo quarterback Kurt Rocco counters Garcia with a stellar sophomore campaign by ranking in third in the AFL in passing average per game (308.4) and total offense per game (311.2). Rocco is coming off of his most proficient game with the VooDoo, completing 21 of 24 passes for 293 yards and 7 touchdowns in a win over the Georgia Force.

Rocco, 24, is the youngest starting quarterback in the AFL and will be going up against the League's oldest, 41, in Garcia. When Garcia entered the League as a rookie in 1995, Rocco was in the first grade.

"It is weird when you look at it like that," said Rocco in an interview earlier this season. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and guys like Dutton and Grieb for helping make the AFL a great league."

The VooDoo and Talons take center stage on Saturday night in The Graveyard with kickoff at 7 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased by calling 504-875-3900.
