AFL Flexes Soul-Mustangs to NFL Network on Friday
June 7, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release
CHICAGO - The Philadelphia Soul and Milwaukee Mustangs will be seen on national television this week, as their East Division clash airs on NFL Network, the Arena Football League announced today.
"NET10 Arena Football Friday", which was originally scheduled to showcase the Pittsburgh Power at the Cleveland Gladiators, has been shifted to the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
The Soul are tied for the best record in the AFL at 9-3. They also sport the top scoring offense, led by quarterback Dan Raudabaugh and record-setting fullback Derrick Ross. The Mustangs are coming off a 13-point victory over the San Jose SaberCats where quarterback Gino Guidugli tied a franchise record with nine touchdown passes.
"This might be the most exciting matchup of the weekend," Arena Football League Commissioner Jerry B. Kurz said. "We have the ability to flex our broadcast schedule just as the NFL and other leagues do. I'm pleased this game was already scheduled for Friday night as that gave us the opportunity to shift the broadcast without placing burden on our fans to attend on a different night."
The Arena Football League has also announced that the Week 16 National Game of the Week telecast will now show the New Orleans VooDoo as they travel to "The Jungle" to face the Orlando Predators.
"When Orlando traveled to New Orleans in Week 11, it was one of our stronger television ratings of the season," Kurz said. "It appears that our fans are very interested in watching Head Coach Pat O'Hara take on his former team."
"NET10 Arena Football Friday" airs every Friday night at 8 pm ET on NFL Network. The 20-week regular season broadcast schedule will be followed by a three-week postseason, culminating with ArenaBowl XXV in New Orleans on August 10, 2012.
