San Antonio Talons News Release
SAN ANTONIO - There is no need to travel to Dallas or Houston for NFL caliber football anymore. Today, two players from the San Antonio Talons are signing contracts with top NFL teams.
Eric Crocker, the 6'2", 195 pound defensive back is signing with the New York Jets and the Talons 6'2", 225 pound quarterback GJ Kinne will head to the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I am very excited for both GJ and Eric to have the opportunity to go to the NFL," said Talons head coach Lee Johnson. "They both have been working very hard to prepare themselves for this season. Of course I hate to lose such great players, but at least it lets me know we are signing high quality players. I wish nothing but luck to them both."
Kinne graduated from the University of Tulsa as a two year starter with 6,382 passing yards and 53 touchdowns in his career, ranking him third on both the school's career passing list and touchdown passes chart. He also ranked third for career total offensive yards with 7,336 yards.
Crocker, the University of Arkansas at Monticello alum, racked up 70 tackles, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and three interceptions in 19 games last season for the Talons.
The San Antonio Talons have partnered up with United Way for their pre-season game at 7:30 p.m. on March 6. Tickets are available for $5 at the Alamodome box offices. All proceeds from every seat sold will go straight to the United Way. On game day, fans can bring five cans of food to the Food Bank donation station set up and trade them in for a ticket voucher.
The San Antonio Talons are entering into their second season in the Arena Football League (AFL). The team was moved to San Antonio from Tulsa, OK in 2012 and won the AFL's Central Division title, as well as hosted their first AFL playoff game in the 2012 season.
