San Antonio FC Signs MLS Veteran Niko Hansen for 2023 Season

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC has signed MLS veteran Niko Hansen, pending league and federation approval, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are thrilled to welcome Niko and his family to San Antonio. He brings top-level experience with enthusiasm and desire to integrate with the team and defend our championship title," said head coach Alen Marcina. "Niko is an ultra-competitor who demonstrates a commitment to pressing actions and holds game-changing pace, shown through his dynamic and vertical runs, each invaluable asset to our aggressive playing style."

Since being selected ninth overall by Columbus in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, the Danish product has scored seven goals and assisted eight times. Hansen's most productive season came in 2018, when he scored three times and added three assists in over 1,000 minutes played with Columbus.

Hansen's time with Columbus in 2017 and 2018 saw him play alongside current SAFC captains Connor Maloney and Mohammed Abu.

The 2023 SAFC roster currently stands as follows, with more moves to be announced in the coming weeks:

Goalkeepers (1) - Jordan Farr

Defenders (6) - Fabien Garcia, Shannon Gomez, Connor Maloney, Carter Manley, Mitchell Taintor, Juan Carlos Azocar

Midfielders (4) - Mohammed Abu, Victor "PC" Giro, David Loera, Niko Hansen

Forwards (2) - Ignacio Bailone, Justin Dhillon
