Orange County SC Adds Versatile Norwegian Defender Ryan Doghman for 2023

Orange County SC today announced another European signing with a deal to bring in Norwegian defender Ryan Doghman. Most recently playing for Asane Fotball, Doghman joins OCSC after more than 100 appearances in the Norwegian Second Division.

The 25-year-old defender provides a utility-like role for head coach Richard Chaplow, as he has played more than 20 matches at three different positions (left-back, left-wing and right-wing).

"After a few great conversations with the technical staff who presented the club both on and off the field, in a way that made the decision easy," Doghman said. "I'm looking forward to contributing so we can achieve a great season."

Doghman is the sixth European player at the club, alongside Daniel Pedersen, Rob Kiernan, and Kyle Scott. He is the third to join this season, including Andrew Fox and Emil Nielsen, as Orange County continues to bring in global talent to grace the field at Championship Soccer Stadium.

"We are very excited to add Ryan, a dynamic and versatile player to our team," OCSC General Manager and President of Soccer Operations Oliver Wyss said. "Ryan has played over 100 professional games in Norway and has turned down multiple offers in Europe in the offseason to play for Orange County!"

Doghman is coming off of one of his best offensive seasons of his career. He accounted for eight goal contributions in 2022, tallying four goals and four assists. His all-around talent once again shone through in 2022, as his 23 appearances were spread out across 11 at left-wing, nine at left-back and three at left-mid.

"Ryan came highly recommended to us and following conversations with him, we were impressed by his maturity and desire to play in the United States," OCSC Sporting Director Peter Nugent said. "He is an attack-minded fullback that will excite the fans with the way he plays."

Like all transactions Doghman is pending league and federation approval, per league and club policy, terms of the transaction will not be disclosed.
