EDINBURG, TX - San Antonio FC fell 0-1 to Rio Grande Valley FC at UTRGV Soccer Complex on Saturday in the third edition of the South Texas Derby. The lone goal of the match came from RGV defender Kevin Garcia.

The match kicked off an hour later than scheduled due to bad weather and lightning in the Rio Grande Valley area.

The RGV FC goal came in the 41st minute when Garcia headed in a corner by teammate Jose Rodriguez to beat SAFC goalkeeper Josh Ford. The goal was Garcia's first of the season.

San Antonio's Greg Cochrane came close to finding an equalizer in the second half after Milton Palacios ran up the wing and crossed the ball low to put him one on one with the RGV keeper, but his chance was ultimately denied.

The match was the third time the two clubs have faced each other this season, and the first time San Antonio has traveled to Edinburg. San Antonio fell to RGV FC 3-2 on May 7, and the teams tied 0-0 on May 25.

SAFC will return to USL action on Saturday, June 11 as they visit Portland Timbers 2 for the first time in franchise history.
