FC Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - FC Montreal lost 2-0 against the Rochester Rhinos on Saturday afternoon at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

Christian Volesky scored first for the Rhinos. Alone on the right side, he cut into the box before taking a shot in the right top corner to beat Maxime Crépeau in the 45th minute, just before halftime.

Back from the locker room, the Bleu-blanc-noir conceded a second goal. This time, Kenardo Forbes passed from the left into the box for Steevan Dos Santos, who struck first-time and scored in the 49th minute.

Crépeau had previously made an important save against Dos Santos in the first half, coming strongly out of his net to stop his header.

FC Montreal created its best chances in the last 30 minutes of the game. In the 62nd minute, Cameron Porter passed to David Choinière in front of the box. Choinière took a low shot, but goalkeeper Tomas Gomez made the save.

"For an hour, we didn't apply the game plan and the instructions," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "For 60 minutes, there were no forward runs from any players. A competitor is someone that wants to win the game from the first minute. The first talent in a player is courage; without that, there's nothing. We want to see that our players want to win and make a difference."

"It wasn't good. It took us 60 minutes to start playing," said defender Janouk Charbonneau. "We didn't do anything in our play to score. We weren't focused and didn't apply the game plan. We have four games on the road that will be difficult. It will be important for us to go back to basics and to do what we know we can do."

The next FC Montreal game will be played on Saturday, June 11, at 7pm against FC Cincinnati at Nippert Stadium. It will be the first of a four-game series on the road before the team comes back to Claude-Robillard Sports Complex on Sunday, June 26, to face Orlando City B.
