San Antonio FC Falls 1-2 at FC Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - San Antonio FC fell 1-2 at FC Tulsa tonight to fall to 13-5-10 with 49 points on the season. Rida Zouhir scored the lone goal for SAFC, moving Jorge Hernandez into the league assist lead with the score.

Tulsa struck first, finding the back of the net in the 14th minute to end San Antonio's shutout streak at 363 minutes. Tulsa would add to the lead in the 68th to make it 0-2.

SAFC pulled one back in the 80th minute, with Zouhir scoring his eighth goal of the season to make it 1-2. The goal total is tied for the second-most on the team, and came on an assist from Hernandez.

Hernandez's assist was his eighth of the season, tying him for the league lead and putting him just one assist off the club record for single-season assists. Billy Forbes' nine in 2017 currently hold the top mark.

San Antonio FC is on the road again Saturday, taking on Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. CT, with the match broadcast on ESPN+.

Midfielder Jorge Hernandez's assist on Zouhir's goal was his eight of the season, tying him for the league lead.

Hernandez's eight assists are the second-most in a single season in SAFC history, just one short of the all-time best set by Billy Forbes in 2017.

"It's a tough one because we have high aspirations for ourselves, we want to repeat what we did last year - what the team did last year. Right now we're falling a little short of that, but there's still plenty of time to grow and be ready for playoffs when the time comes. Hopefully, we look back on this time as a as a way that kind of springs us forward and rebounds to reach our ultimate goals. It's just a humbling experience right now and I think that we'll come back stronger from this."

"Obviously disappointing because we want to be the best and obviously to be the best you have to bring your a-game every time. I think we fell short of that tonight. Obviously disappointed, some self-reflection is needed, collectively and individually. ... We have a style of play, and obviously when part of it is not executed or even the whole thing is not executed you don't get the result that you came for. And obviously it's a road game and you want to come in in an environment and take three points on the road, but we didn't do that tonight and obviously we've got to bounce back for the weekend and we need to put this game behind us ... and move on the next game and try to correct our wrongs and try to be sharper and ready for a tough match away in Colorado."

"I think you just self reflect, we all know what we're supposed to be doing on the field and this is something that we've been doing for years. So I think it's an identity that we've all learned and learned since we got here. So I think reflecting on that, reflecting on what you could've done better, reflecting on how we can be better for the team, personally and individually. And you take the positive out of the game, and work on your weaknesses over the week, and come [to] Saturday ready to give 110 percent and get three points."
