
San Antonio FC Adds Juan Carlos Azocar on Loan for 2023 Season

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC has added attacker Juan Carlos Azocar on loan from Deportivo La Guaira F.C. for the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Azocar spent 2022 with Oakland Roots SC, scoring 10 goals in 33 matches.
"We are very excited to welcome Juan and his family to San Antonio," said head coach Alen Marcina. "He is an ultra-competitor committed to aggressive and relentless attacking actions with and without the ball. Versatility, verticality, on-ball dynamism and mental fortitude are important attributes Juan possesses and fit our forward-looking Game Model."
Azocar has spent three seasons in the USL Championship, spending 2020 and 2021 with RGV. In that span, the Venezuelan has scored 17 goals to go along with four assists in over 4,000 minutes played.
Last season Azocar appeared primarily at left back for Oakland, finishing second on the team in goals scored, fourth in tackles and fourth in blocks.
The 2023 SAFC roster currently stands as follows, with more moves to be announced in the coming weeks:
