Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY – The Arena Football League Writers' Association yesterday announced that Storm WR/LB Lawrence Samuels has been named Ironman of the Mid-Year.

The Mobile, Alabama native leads the team in receptions with 56, receiving and all-purpose yards with 641, and receiving yards per game with 91.6. Samuels is also tied for the team lead in interceptions with two. He has made 12 tackles this season with a fumble recovery and a pass breakup.

Samuels ranks seventh in receiving yards per game and is tied for eighth in the AFL in receptions. Last week he became the Storm's all-time receptions leader with a six-catch, 59-yard performance that gave him 523 receptions with the Storm. He jumped over Tampa Bay hall-of-famer Stevie Thomas, who amassed 519 catches during his five-year career with Tampa Bay.

The Storm will visit Los Angeles this Saturday to take on former Tampa Bay quarterback John Kaleo and the Los Angeles Avengers at 10:30 p.m. EST. They will return home the following two weeks with a pair of division games against Georgia (April 2, 7:30 p.m.) and Orlando (April 9, 7:30 p.m.) that will have huge implications in the Southern Division standings.
