Samo Meritähti Heads to Providence College

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced that Defenseman, Samo Meritähti has departed from the Lancers' organization and joined the Providence Friars Hockey Program for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
20-year-old Meritähti was acquired by the Omaha Lancers on October 10th, 2023 in a transaction with the Tri-City Storm. The Blueliner skated in 61 total games with the Storm through just over one season of play, gathering 7 points (3G-4A-7P). After being traded to Omaha, Meritähti took off by matching his Tri-City point total in just 15 games (1G-6A-7P).
The 6-Foot-3, 192 Pound Defenseman, will be joining a so far successful Friars team, who currently sit a 9-4-2 overall with a 4-2-2 conference record. Placing them in fourth place in the Hockey East standings. Trailing the University of Maine and Boston College by just a single point.
The entire Lancers' organization thanks Samo for his hard work over the course of the past two months and wish him the best of luck in college, as well as a speedy recovery with his current injury!
