Salvador Paniagua, recently acquired from the Rio Grande Valley White Wings is this week's Laredo Broncos Player of the Week for Week 7th (July 11-17th). Sponsored by Olive Garden.

In his first week with the Broncos, Paniagua hit an amazing .481 with 5 homers, 9 runs and 10 Runs Batted In to win the Player of the Week honors.

Paniagua is the Laredo Broncos starting catcher. He is number 30.

Acquired by Broncos in a trade with the White Wings that sent C Luany Sanchez to Harlingen, Paniagua opened this season with Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo (Mexican League, Class AAA), where he played from May 1-through-16, hitting .233 (14-for-60) with one home run and nine RBI while throwing out one-of-four would-be base stealers. Paniagua reached the AA level in the Southern League with both the New York Mets (Binghamton, 2008, 2009) and Boston Red Sox (Portland, 2007) organizations, where he hit .235 (70-for-298) with 12 home runs and 40 RBI in 110 games. Paniagua caught 12-of-35 (34%) base stealers last season. In seven seasons, Paniagua has hit .250 with 46 home runs and 204 RBI in 381 games.
