Salute to Service Match this Sunday

NOLA Gold News Release

In honor of our past, active, and fallen servicemen, the Gold will celebrate a Military Appreciation Day on Sunday. The day will include special promotions before, during, and after the contest. For instance, before the match, youth fans will be able to test their dexterity, agility, and speed on an inflatable obstacle course. Additionally, in the pre-match tailgate area, two full-sized Howitzer cannons will be on display for fans of all ages to enjoy. Right before kickoff, two UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters will perform a military flyover in a spectacle that will surely warrant the intrigue and amazement of home and away supporters alike.

In the good spirit of the day, there will also be an opportunity for youth fans to take the pitch before kickoff and hone their rugby craft. They will be able to complete drills, participate in a touch game, and even practice with select Gold players.

After the fixture, the NOLA Gold Rugby Foundation Tennis Ball Toss will make its return to the Gold Mine. Match attendees will have the opportunity to heave, huck, and hurl tennis balls from the stands with the aim of landing them as close to a target as possible. The closest thrower will be entered into a season-long raffle with a special grand prize brought to you by the NOLA Gold Foundation.

This past Saturday, certain Gold officials and players spread the joy of rugby to St. Martin's school at their annual jambalaya cookoff. At this event, staff raffled off an official Gold rugby ball, players organized drills and games for the kids, and King Creole impressed the masses by eating an incalculable amount of jambalaya. We look forward to working again with St. Martin's on April 30th on their official rugby kickback day.
