Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees (51-54) thumped the Oklahoma City Dodgers (62-42) 12-1 on Sunday afternoon to earn a split of the six-game series between the two teams.

Braxton Martinez got the Bees started with a 2-RBI double in the second inning and the Bees never looked back. Chad Wallach hit his eighth home run of the year on a solo shot to center field in the third to put the Bees up 3-0. Oklahoma City broke through with a single run in the fifth but were quickly answered with six runs in the bottom of the frame on a Jake Palomaki sacrifice fly, Chad Wallach single, Matt Thaiss double, Jake Gatewood double and Orlando Martinez home run, the first of his Triple-A career. Salt Lake would add another three runs in the sixth for insurance to make up the final tally.

Brian Moran got the start for the Bees on a bullpen day and teamed with Luis Ledo, Gerardo Reyes, Kyle Barraclough, Zach Weiss and Jose Marte to allow just four hits and one unearned run on the afternoon. The six pitchers combined to strike out 16 Dodgers a season-high for a nine inning contest. Ledo was credited with the victory in his Triple-A debut after 1.2 scoreless innings.

The Bees will take Monday off before starting another six-game set at Smith's Ballpark against the Sacramento River Cats beginning Tuesday night.
