Tucson AZ - The Sidewinders pitching staff threw eight scoreless innings, but gave up four in the 9th to lose their fourth straight game to the Salt Lake Bees 4-0. The loss dropped the team's record to 1-4 this season. Sidewinders were shut out for the first time this season leaving seven on base.

Righthander Max Scherzer made his Sidewinders debut against Salt Lake on Monday night. The Diamondbacks' first-round selection (11th overall) in 2006 had a dominating performance going 5.0 innings with 0 runs scored. He struck out 7 batters while allowing 2 hits and 2 walks.

The Sidewinders threatened to score in the 6th inning, with men on first and third and no outs, but failed to push home a run.

Sidewinders pitcher Emilano Fruto got out of a jam in the 8th to keep the game scoreless by getting a double play ball with one out and the bases loaded off the bat of former Sidewinder Dee Brown with the bases loaded and one out.

The Sidewinder pen loaded the bases once again in the 9th inning, but this time failed to escape the jam unscathed. A throwing error on a fielder's choice at the plate by Shortstop Donnie Kelly allowed one run to score. A two run double followed putting the Bees up for good.
