Reno Aces News Release

SALT LAKE CITY- Cole Gillespie hit a two-run double and later came around to score as part of a three-run Aces fourth, but Salt Lake fired back in the home half of the inning and topped Reno, 6-3, Sunday afternoon at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

Reno fell into an early three-run hole, but the Aces rallied back with a three-run frame of their own in the fourth to tie the score. Salt Lake would answer with two runs in the home half of the fourth to regain the lead before tacking on an insurance run in the seventh to put the Aces away.

Aces starter Andrew Berger (0-1) took the loss on Sunday in his Triple-A debut. Berger allowed five runs on five hits over three innings of work. He walked five and struck out one in a 75-pitch effort. Kasey Olenberger surrendered just a run over 3.1 innings of work, before Leyson Septimo came on to hold the Bees scoreless over the final 1.2 innings.

The win went to Bees starter Amalio Diaz (5-6), who scattered three runs-two earned-on six hits over six frames. Fernando Rodriguez, Ysmael Carmona and Bobby Cassevah each tossed a scoreless frame to close out the proceedings for Salt Lake.

At the dish for Reno, Gillespie led the way with a hit and two RBIs. Jeff Bailey notched two singles, while Drew Macias drew three walks in five trips to the plate.

The Aces close out the 2010 campaign with a Labor Day matinee. RHP Cesar Valdez (5-10, 6.12 ERA) gets the nod for Reno. RHP Eric Junge (5-2, 5.52 ERA) counters for the Bees. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT. All the action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1450 in Reno or by visiting www.RenoAces.com.
