Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Scott Dohmann induced pop-outs from German Duran and J.B. Shuck, stranding runners at second and third as the Albuquerque Isotopes held off the Round Rock Express 3-2 Sunday night at The Dell Diamond. The Express (57-86) suffered their 31st one-run loss of the season but lead the series two-games-to-one. The Isotopes (71-71) hold an 8-7 edge in the season series.

Brandon Barnes drew a one-out walk in the ninth, and John Curtis followed with a double off the wall in left-center. However, Dohmann retired Duran and Shuck to preserve the win and log his 16th save of the season.

Albuquerque starter Edgar Gonzalez (1-1) earned the victory; he allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings.

Express starter Jordan Lyles (0-3) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs on eight hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 5.0 innings. Jonah Bayliss worked a pair of perfect frames with four strikeouts, and Casey Daigle scattered two hits and a walk over 2.0 scoreless innings.

Lyles escaped trouble in the top of the first with an inning-ending double play. However, he was not as fortunate in the second as the Isotopes loaded the bases with three consecutive singles to open the inning. Esteban Lopez made it four consecutive singles, plating two runs and breaking a scoreless tie.

The Express got a run back in the fourth when Drew Locke reached on a leadoff single and later scored on an Albuquerque throwing error. The Isotopes responded with a run in the top of the fifth; Gonzalez led off with a single and scored on Russ Mitchell's one-out RBI single. Barnes pulled Round Rock back to within a run in the seventh with a one-out solo homer, but the Express could get no closer.

Curtis was 2-for-4, while Locke was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Michael Restovich was 3-for-4 with a run scored for the Isotopes.

Both teams conclude their 2010 seasons Monday with the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. CDT at The Dell Diamond. Right-hander Josh Banks (9-11, 3.99 ERA) gets the start for the Express, while right-hander Tim Corcoran (8-8, 6.68 ERA) is slated to go for the Isotopes.
