Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Anchorage, AK -The Victoria Salmon Kings and Alaska Aces concluded their three-game set Saturday night in Anchorage. The Aces had taken the first two-games of the set. The Salmon Kings started Todd Ford in net while the Aces countered with Jean-Phillipe Lamoureaux.

A rough and tumble first period saw both teams have chances, but neither being able to convert. Victoria outshot Alaska 12-9 in the first period.

The crashing and banging continued in the second period, as did the solid goaltending. Both Ford and Lamoureaux stood tall making several key saves to keep the game scoreless through 40 minutes. Both teams spent time in the penalty box, but neither power play being able to convert. Both teams were 0-5 with the man advantage heading into the third period.

The third period continued the trend with tempers nearing the boiling point, and the goalies stopping everything in their paths. Wes Goldie had the best chance for the Salmon Kings on a breakaway, but was unable to beat Lamoureaux. The game would stay tied at 0-0 at the end of regulation.

The Salmon Kings killed off an early penalty, but neither team was either to light the lamp in the extra frame, and a shootout was required.

In the shootout the Salmon Kings tallied one goal in five attempts, but the Aces were able to beat Ford twice. Aces 1 Salmon Kings 0.

Victoria went 0/7=0% on the power play and Alaska ended 0/6=0%. The Salmon Kings outshot the Aces 31-24.
