Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team has extended a training camp invitation to centre Drew Davis.

Davis played one season (2006-07) at the University of Victoria and was the team's captain and leading scorer. This will be Davis's first professional training camp.

"Drew was brought to our attention by Greg Batters," Head Coach Mark Morrison said, "We trust Greg's opinion as he has assisted us for several years in identifying good players, such as Wes Goldie. Drew is a late bloomer and has been working hard all summer. We definitely want to take a look at him and give him an opportunity to make our club."

The West Vancouver native paced the Vikes in scoring averaging 3 points per game, while leading the team to the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League Championship.

"It feels great to have this opportunity," the 6'5", 210lbs Davis said. "I've worked hard for it, and am looking forward to having the chance to compete versus professional players."

The 21-year-old played briefly in the BCHL with the Cowichan Valley Capitals in 2003-04, and had previously played Jr. B hockey with the Victoria Cougars.

Davis graduated from the University of Victoria with a degree in Political Science.
