Salmon Kings Add French Connection

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team has signed center Martin Thibeault.

Thibeault just finished a successful junior hockey career with Val-d'Or of the Quebec Junior Major Hockey League (QJMHL), and this marks his first professional contract.

"Martin is a skilled offensive player with great speed that has played 4 years in the QMJHL," Dan Belisle Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager said. "Last season he had a big year and is looking to make his jump to pro hockey this season. I'm looking forward to seeing him play in the Vancouver Canucks prospect camp this weekend."

The 5'9", 168lbs Thibeault was third for the Foreurs in scoring last season with 61 points (25g-31a) in 70 regular season games. In the team's run to the QJMHL League Finals he contributed 4 goals and 1 assist for 5 points in 20 playoff contests. He also tallied the series winning goal in Val-d-Or's dramatic seven game series versus Cape Breton to send his team to the league final.

The 20-year-old Amos, Quebec native played in 196 games in his career with the Foreurs and tallied 42 goals and 56 assists for 98 points during that span. His career playoff numbers in Val-d'Or are 8 points (5g-3a) in 25 games.

The Salmon Kings will kick off their fourth season in the ECHL in Idaho on Oct 19, 2007, and will host the Las Vegas Wranglers for the Home Opener Series on Oct 26 and 27.
