Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team's fourth annual Teddy Bear Toss will be held this upcoming Saturday, December 12th versus the Las Vegas Wranglers.

Fans are encouraged to bring new teddy bears to the game on Saturday night and are asked to throw their stuffed animal onto the ice surface after the Salmon Kings score their first goal.

All stuffed animals collected at the game will be donated to CFAX Santa's Anonymous as well as children at Victoria General Hospital and Queen Alexandra's Children's Hospital by Salmon Kings players. Make sure to remember your stuffed animal to support these worthwhile causes!

Teddy Bears will also be on sale in the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre concourse courtesy of the Bay. Fans can purchase a bear for just $12 with proceeds going to the Hudson's Bay Company Foundation to benefit Canadian athletes. Fans can also purchase teddy bear vouchers in advance for the $12 charge that is redeemable for a teddy bear at the Bay table on Saturday night. Vouchers will be available to purchase in person at the Select Your Tickets Box Office, over the phone, or online. Also, vouchers have no cash value and must be redeemed at the Teddy Bear Toss game.

The Salmon Kings are also proud to announce a ticketing offer that gives fans a child's ticket to the Teddy Bear Toss game plus a voucher for a teddy bear courtesy of the Bay for only $20. This offer is also available through the Select Your Tickets Box Office in person or over the phone.

This Saturday is also the second of four dates that the Salmon Kings present their "Shuffle-to-Win" contest courtesy of Dave Wheaton GMC and the Times Colonist for a chance to win a brand new Cadillac SRX. At each designated game four selected contestants will shoot from one faceoff circle and attempt to land the puck within the faceoff dot diagonally across the ice. If one contestant shoots the puck completely within the designated faceoff dot, they will drive away in the brand new Cadillac! Contestants will also be eligible for a secondary cash prize of $250 if the puck lands within the applicable faceoff circle.

If the Cadillac remains unclaimed by the Salmon Kings final home game then 10 random contestants drawn from all eligible entries will each receive one key to test on the vehicle. One fan will be in possession of the key to the Cadillac SRX and will drive the car home!

To enter the "Shoot-to-Win" contest for a brand new Cadillac, fans are asked to visit www.salmonkings.com, the Dave Wheaton GMC dealership, or pick up a copy of the Victoria Times Colonist.

The Greater Victoria Public Library will also be in attendance on Saturday night. Visit their booth in the arena to receive prize giveaways and find out information regarding upcoming events at the library, which includes a special Salmon Kings visit to the Juan de Fuca branch on February 10th, 2010!

The Victoria Mustard Seed will be on hand this Thursday night to collect non-perishable food items for families in need. As an extra incentive to support this cause, the Victoria Salmon Kings will also be offering a ticket discount to those that donate a non-perishable food item! Fans who drop off a donation at the Select Your Tickets box office will save $3.00 off the walk-up price of a ticket to a game on either Thursday, December 10th, Wednesday, December 16th, or Friday December 18th.

Also, between today and Friday, December 18th any Victoria Salmon Kings fan who brings a non-perishable item down to Select Your Tickets to donate towards the Mustard Seed will receive a ballot to enter to win two tickets to Cirque Du Soleil: Alegria coming to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in September 2010!

107.3 KOOL FM will also be in attendance on Thursday night, giving fans the chance to win four tickets to see Hedley on March 23rd at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre plus dinner for four!

This Friday's game will include a visit from Nevada Bob's Golf, who will be on hand to give away Loudmouth Golf Apparel Outfits! They will also be chipping golf balls into the crowd during the second intermission that provides fans with some great prize giveaways!

Victoria returns to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre to play the Las Vegas Wranglers for a three-game set with contests on Thursday, December 10th, Friday, December 11th, and Saturday, December 12th. Puck drop for all three games is 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call 250-220-7777 or visit www.selectyourtickets.com.
