Salmon Kings And Heat Swap Goaltenders

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that goaltender Matt Keetley has been recalled by the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League (AHL), while goaltender David Shantz has been re-assigned by the Heat.

Keetley appeared in three games for the Salmon Kings during this past week's series versus the Ontario Reign. In the three contests, Keetley posted a 2-1-0 record with a 1.01 goals against average, a 0.965 save percentage, and two shutouts.

The Medicine Hat, Alberta native has also played in two games with Abbotsford this season posting a 0-1-0 record while registering a 4.81 goals against average and 0.884 save percentage.

Shantz, under AHL contract to Abbotsford, returns to Victoria after playing five games this season for the Heat where he went 2-2-0 and accumulated a 0.869 save percentage, a 3.70 goals against average, and one shutout. Shantz participated in the Salmon Kings' training camp last month, but was recalled to the Heat prior to the beginning of the 2009-10 ECHL regular season on October 16th.

The Salmon Kings now head on the road for three games in Idaho against the Steelheads on Wednesday, November 18th, Friday, November 20th, and Saturday, November 21st. Victoria returns home to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre to face the Ontario Reign for a two-game set with matches on Friday, November 27th, and Saturday, November 28th.
