Coming Up This Week â The Saints have another full week ahead with a home tilt Tuesday against Laredo and weekend road games at Odessa on Friday and El Paso on Saturday. The Saints are currently 4-1 at home and 1-0 on the road for the young season. The weekend road games will be broadcast live on "The Rock" 96.5 KCSE with Al Rooney continuing to fill in for regular announcer Tom Nurre who is tending to some personal matters at home.
Week In Review â The Saints went 3-1-0 in the 2nd week of the 2002-03 season at 5-4 win over Laredo, a 3-1 win over El Paso, a 3-2 loss to New Mexico and a 5-4 shootout win over Wichita.
Tuesday Oct. 22 - San Angelo 5 Laredo 4
The Saints won a see-saw battle against the Bucks in their first ever meeting - with Kori Davison leading the way for the Saints with his first hat-trick of the season. Eric Schneider added a hat-trick for the Bucks who fought back from a 5-2 3rd period deficit to make the game interesting, but could not add the tying goal in the furious last couple of minutes.
Friday Oct. 25 - San Angelo 2 New Mexico 3
The Saints suffered their first loss of the season as Chris Richards tallied the game-winning goal for the Scorpions late in the 3rd period. Chris Peach and Jason Abel each recorded a goal and an assist for the Saints in the losing effort. The Scorpions out-shot the Saints 39-27 for the game.
Saturday Oct. 26 - San Angelo 3 El Paso 1
Rookie goaltender Scott Reid was the star of the game for the Saints, stopping 51 of 52 shots to record his first win in his first start of the season. Two goals by Troy Mann and one by Blake Sheane helped spoil the Buzzards' home opener in a game that was marked by two fights in the opening 10 seconds of play. The Saints lost defenseman Brad Cook for awhile with an injury and Kori Davison to suspension for actions during the game.
Sunday Oct. 27 - San Angelo 5 Wichita 4
The Saints won another high scoring game in the first ever meeting against the Thunder. Corri Moffat scored two power play goals for the Saints and Chris Peach potted the game winner in the shootout for the victory. After a shaky start, goalie Scott Reid picked up his 2nd win in as many nights. The Saints played without Jamie Thompson who is still injured, Brad Cook and Kori Davison.
