October 29, 2002 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN- The Indianapolis Ice has invited a special guest to this Friday's 7:00 contest with the Oklahoma City Blazers at Conseco Fieldhouse. Making an appearance at the game will be Steve Wilkos, Jerry's sidekick and security guard of the Jerry Springer Show.

Known for his calming demeanor and ability to separate combatants, Wilkos will take his trade to the Ice by spending part of the game in the penalty box. He will also be on hand to sign autographs and participate in some on-ice activities in conjunction with "College Night." On "College Night," all college students with valid ID get in for $14, $9 or $6 in games at Conseco Fieldhouse.

The popular security guard has been with Jerry for eight years in addition to being a full-time Chicago Police Officer for the last 12 years. He was raised on the Northside of Chicago and previously served for seven years in the United State Marine Corps.

Away from his work-related duties, Wilkos is a baseball fanatic and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Other hobbies include golf, bowling and reading books. He lists former Boston Red Sox great Ted Williams and his father as his role models in life. He enjoyed the great baseball prowess of Williams and that he was a jet fighter pilot in the Marines, while he followed his dads' footsteps by choosing to be a police officer just like him.

Fans can purchase tickets for Friday's game and all individual games at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayers and the Pepsi Coliseum and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com
