San Angelo Saints News Release

San Angelo, TX – The San Angelo Saints of the Central Hockey League are proud to announce that they are still leading the Southern Conference in points, after a three game road trip this past week, where the Saints skated away with 5 out of 6 possible points, including a shoot out loss to Lubbock, a regulation victory over Fort Worth and a shoot out win over the Amarillo Gorillas. The Saints currently sit atop the conference with 58 points in 49 games played so far this season, with Lubbock and Amarillo trailing by two points and games in hand.

In player news, the Saints have activated forward Trevor Weisgerber for the injured reserve list. Weisgerber played this past weekend in Fort Worth and Amarillo, where he was a +2 for the weekend. The Saints have also placed defensemen Matthew Medley on 45 Day Injured Reserve, retro to the Saints shoot out loss to the Lubbock Cotton Kings on Tuesday, February 15th, and forward Jonathan Dubois is currently day to day and it is unsure if he will play this weekend.

The San Angelo Saints were also recognized by Children's Miracle Network last night for being a Crystal Shamrock Society Member, as well as a Pioneer Circle Corporate Member. The Saints join up with Children's Miracle Network for various fundraising activities throughout the year, but most noticeably was the Saints Bachelor Auction in November, that saw over $10,000 raised to help fund a new teen room at the hospital. "It always makes you feel great being able to help out such a wonderful charity," stated Jim Cook, President and General Manager of the Saints. "It gives you more pleasure and a bigger smile on your face when you can interact with the kids that you have helped and the people who are with them day to day." The Saints look forward to many more fundraising opportunities with Children's Miracle Network during the upcoming year.

The Saints are still on the road this week as the Rodeo finishes up in San Angelo. They head to Bossier-Shreveport to take on the Mudbugs this Friday night and then on to Memphis where the RiverKings will host them Saturday night. Both games are a 7:05 PM start and can be heard on Kickin' Country 103.1 FM. The Saints return to the Sanctuary to host the 1st Place team in the Northern Conference, the Colorado Eagles, on Sunday March 6th at 5 PM.
