"Buck Out Illiteracy" Big Success

LAREDO, Texas â This past Friday night the Laredo Bucks hosted the first "Buck Out Illiteracy" night. Almost 1,100 books were collected for donation to assist the Gateway Rotary Book Drive. "It think it was awesome the way the community and the Bucks got involved," President of Gateway Rotary Javier Compean said. "These book donations will really help setup Larga Vista Library. One of the goals for rotary worldwide is to eradicate illiteracy during our 100th year. The building of the library was our centennial project."
Fans could bring either children's books or adult level books for donation. In all 1,097 books were donated by fans who attended the Bucks game on Friday against New Mexico.
