Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, OH - Behind Kevin Reidler's second shutout of the series, the Dubuque Fighting Saints downed the Youngstown Phantoms 2-0 on the road on Wednesday night to win the Eastern Conference Semifinals series three games to one.
Reidler made 18 saves in his second shutout of the playoffs to pave the way for Beckett Hendrickson's game-winner 4:59 into the third period. Hendrickson's tally broke a scoreless tie after the teams entered the third scoreless for the second-straight night. Dubuque's trade-deadline acquisition scored twice in the series to help the Saints advance.
Juraj Pekarcik assisted on Hendrickson's goal for his fifth point of the series to lead the Fighting Saints. As a line Pekarcik, Hendrickson and Erik Påhlsson combined for seven points in the Game 2 win. Pekarcik and Hendrickon added a pair more in the Game 4 win.
Later in the third period, Lucas St. Louis lofted a shot to the net that found its way into the top corner and extended Dubuque's lead to 2-0. Luke Malboeuf recorded his first point of the playoffs with an assist on the goal.
The Fighting Saints killed the only power play they faced in the Game 4 win to complete a perfect series on the kill over eight Youngstown power plays. Reidler made 88 of 91 saves in the course of the four-game series.
Dubuque advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the 2017 playoffs with the victory over Youngstown.
In the Conference Finals, the Fighting Saints will take on the winner of Friday's Game 5 between Muskegon and Green Bay.
Dubuque will have home-ice advantage in the Conference Finals and Game 1 of the series will be on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. CDT at ImOn Arena in Dubuque.
