
Saints Make Two Trades for Pitchers

ST. PAUL, MN (June 19, 2007) - After getting through this past weekend with six healthy pitchers, the St. Paul Saints went out and traded for right-handed reliever Sean Kramer of the New Jersey Jackals in the Can-Am League in exchange for a player to be named later and Kevin Fitzgerald of North Shore in exchange for firstbaseman Josue Lopez.
The 26 year-old Kramer was 1-0, 12.00 ERA in eight games pitched this season with the Jackals. In 9.0 innings he walked nine and struck out six.
Kramer spent the last three seasons with the Sioux City Explorers. During the last three seasons he has recorded 44 saves. His best season was in 2005 when he was 1-4 with a 3.16 ERA and 20 saves in 40 games pitched. In 42.2 innings he walked 28 and struck out 54 while the opposition hit .220 against him.
Kramer was a 29th round pick by the Houston Astros in 2002 and pitched one season for them at Single-A Tri-City of the New York-Penn League. Kramer was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM.
The 23 year-old Fitzgerald was 0-0 with a 5.79 ERA and four saves in nine games this season with the Spirit. In 9.1 innings he walked six and struck out seven.
Fitzgerald was the Reliever of the Year last season in the Can-Am League in 2006. He was 0-1 with a 2.14 ERA and 27 saves in 42 games. In 42.0 innings pitched he walked 16 and struck out 36 while the opposition hit .203 against him. He finished first in the Can-Am in saves, second in games pitched (42) and games finished (40).
Lopez was hitting .248 with six homers and 28 RBI in 28 games with the Saints. In 105 at bats he had four doubles and swiped one base.
The Saints roster now sits at 20 players, nine pitchers and 11 position players. The Saints can carry a maximum of 22 players on their roster.
