Saints Make Player Moves

SAN ANGELO â The San Angelo Saints today announced several player moves as the team prepares for another road trip this weekend. Two players have been put on injured reserve, one has been signed and the team has traded for the rights to another.
Saints forwards Steve Roberts and Jarret Metz have been placed on the 14-day injured reserve. Roberts is eligible to come off the injured list on Nov. 11th and Metz is eligible to come off on Nov. 16th.
To fill some of the empty space on the roster, the Saints have signed forward Dustin Hunter. Hunter started the season in Oklahoma City and the Saints traded future considerations for him earlier this week. The Saints have also traded future considerations to the Memphis Riverkings for the rights to forward/defenseman Scott Lega.
Lega is making a comeback to professional hockey this season. He finished his Jr. hockey career in 1996 with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. In seven games this season with Memphis, Lega recorded 2 assists, 7 penalty minutes, and had a +3 plus/minus rating.
However, league rules only permit teams to add one player for every two that are on injured reserve. So, since Hunter has filled the space left by Roberts and Metz, if Lega is signed, a current player will have to be released to make room on the roster.
The Saints travel to Odessa to play the Jackalopes on Friday night, then head straight to Corpus Christi to take on the Rayz on Saturday night. The Saints' next home game is Tuesday, Nov. 11th against the Fort Worth Brahmas. On that night the team is hosting a Veteran's Day Celebration with free miniature U.S. Flags to the first 2,500 fans through the doors. The Saints are also providing a Military Discount to the Veteran's Day game with tickets available for just $5 to anyone with a military ID card.
