Nilson Selected CHL Player of the Month For October

LAREDO, Texas â The Central Hockey league announced today that Laredo Bucks forward Patrik Nilson has been selected as the Sherwood CHL Player of the Month for October. The Bucks host the Corpus Christi Rayz this Friday night with the face-off set for 7:30 p.m. For tickets or more information call (956) 718-BUCKS (2825) or go online at www.laredobucks.com.
Nilson led the Bucks to a perfect 5-0-0 record in October and the best record in the CHL as he scored a goal in every game, six total, and added three assists.
"I thought it was a well deserved honor for Patrik," said Bucks head coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski. "Patrik didn't just put up good stats he also played well. He plays hard all the time. It shows people that when you play hard good things happen."
Nilson scored a goal in the first six games that Laredo played this year before his streak ended on 11/02 against San Angelo. Nilson is currently tied for the CHL lead with seven goals. Despite his goal scoring streak coming to an end on Sunday, Nilson has managed to record a point in all seven Bucks games.
"The team played really well," said Nilson. "It is an honor that really reflects on the team. I am just trying to work hard and help the team win."
Nilson's older brother Marcus is in his fourth season playing for the Florida Panthers in the NHL.
