May 19, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, IA - The Dubuque Fighting Saints dropped Game 4 of the Clark Cup Final 3-1 to the Fargo Force on Saturday night, ending the season for the Fighting Saints.
Jake Sondreal scored early on for the Saints, helping Dubuque to a lead for the third-straight contest. However, the Saints allowed two goals in the first period after Sondreal's tally to fall behind 2-1 after the opening frame.
After allowing the two goals, the Saints put the pressure on the Force. Dubuque outshot Fargo 11-5 in the second period, but Hampton Slukynsky stopped all 11 shots in the middle frame.
In the third period, Dubuque continued to pressure, but could not find the tying goal. A late empty-netter by the Force iced the game for Fargo.
Dubuque's season came to an end with the loss, but the Fighting Saints made franchise history throughout the season.
Dubuque reached the Clark Cup Final for just the fourth time in Tier-I Franchise history. The Saints won 40 games for just the third time in franchise history and were led by Sondreal, who became just the ninth Saint to reach 100 career points.
The Fighting Saints wrap up the 2023-24 season as the Eastern Conference Champions for the fourth time in Tier-I team history.
