St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - The old adage is you can never have too much pitching and Saints manager George Tsamis is living by that credo as he signed relief pitcher John Wesley on Monday.

The 27-year-old right-hander spent time in the Chicago White Sox organization last season, splitting time between Single-A and Double-A. He was 3-4 with a 2.77 ERA and 12 saves in 43 relief appearances between Single-A Kannapolis and Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham. In 52.0 innings pitched he struck out 67 and walked 24 while opponents hit .230 against him.

"John will come in and be a big part of our bullpen," said Tsamis. "It's nice to have him with us. He wants the ball when the game is on the line."

Wesley is no stranger to the American Association having pitched for the Sioux Falls Canaries in 2005-06. He was third in games pitched (43) in '05 and was 0-0 with a 1.42 ERA and six saves in 13 relief appearances in '06 before the White Sox signed him.

Wesley began his professional career in 2002 when he was a non-drafted free agent signee by the Toronto Blue Jays. He played three seasons for the Blue Jays organization.

The Saints have officially signed 10 players, seven pitchers and three position players. They can carry a maximum of 22 players on their roster during the regular season.
