Saints Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Irish Night Saturday

DUBUQUE, IA-With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, the Dubuque Fighting Saints hope the luck of the Irish is on their side on Saturday night. Led by Irish lad Seamus Malone, the Fighting Saints host the Green Bay Gamblers for Irish Night at 7:05 p.m. this Saturday and fans are encouraged to wear green for a pre-St. Patrick's Day celebration.
Saturday's game will be themed around a celebration of Irish heritage and the fun spirit of St. Patrick's Day. During the game's second intermission, select fans will be able to take the ice for a game of hurling, a popular game of ancient Gaelic and Irish origin. The game will take a new look when played on ice, with the hurlers attempting to win a pot of gold for their teams.
The Fighting Saints will also celebrate various celebrities with Irish roots, including Colin Ferrel, Megan Fox, Sean Connery and Oliva Wilde.
Additionally, traditional Irish music will be played throughout the evening, and several lucky lads with have the chance to showcase their knowledge of popular Irish musicians.
Fans are encouraged to start their St. Patrick's Day weekend at Saturday's Fighting Saints game. Fans 21 years of age and over may stop at the ID station at the Mystique Community Ice Center to receive a wristband that is valid for one free bottoms up draft beer at 1st and Main, located in downtown Dubuque.
Fans are encouraged to wear green and may get into the spirit by purchasing a new Fighting Saints green Irish Night t-shirt, featuring a design with the Fighting Saints primary logo embedded in a shamrock. The shirts will be available at the merchandise stand at Saturday's game for $16.95 for sizes S-XL and $18.95 for sizes 2XL-3XL. Select sizes of the Fighting Saints popular "Kiss Me I'm a Saint" shirt are also available.
Fans may even enjoy a taste of Ireland for Irish Night on Saturday. The DB&T Club will feature a buffet meal from J&D Catering with a traditional Irish theme. Corned beef and carrots with Irish colcannon potatoes is on the menu, in addition to cabbage and Irish soda bread. Dessert will feature Irish crème, Guinness chocolate cake and a mint shamrock layer cake. Reservations for the DB&T Club are now being accepted by calling 563.583.6880.
Following the game, the Fighting Saints will auction off their alternate creme jerseys worn throughout the 2014-2015 season in a live jersey auction. Fans are encouraged to stick around to score a piece of Fighting Saints history.
