St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (April 22, 2015) - The St. Paul Saints first game in the state of Minnesota for the 2015 season won't be a final farewell at Midway Stadium. It won't be in their beautiful new home, CHS Field. Nope, instead they will continue a tradition that began back in 2008, taking their show on the road. The Saints, in conjunction with Killebrew Root Beer, will play an exhibition game in Owatonna to help promote and raise money for the area.

For the eighth consecutive season the Saints will play an exhibition game in a neighboring Minnesota community on a field known for its townball teams. On Saturday, May 16 at 3:10 p.m. the Saints will take on the Owatonna Aces/Southern Minny All-Stars at Dartt's Park in Owatonna, MN presented by Killebrew Root Beer. The field is located at 429 Mineral Springs Rd & 600 Cherry St in Owatonna. The All-Star team will consist of the best players in the league from 14 different teams (Austin, Hayfield, Kasson, Mound, Northfield, Pine Island, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Rochester, Stewartville-Racine, Tri-County, Wanamingo, Waseca, Winona, Zumbrota).

"Killebrew Root Beer is excited to be hosting the game in Owatonna on the 16th," said RJM President of RJM Distributing, Jim Lundeen. "It will feature amateur all-stars taking on the independent pro ballplayers representing the St. Paul Saints. This is our fifth year celebrating town ball and we enjoy doing so in partnership with the Saints. We are proud to help highlight the great baseball traditions in communities around the state of Minnesota and help raise much needed funds to keep their fields and programs going strong."

Gates open at noon with batting practice for the two teams going from 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Kids in attendance will be allowed to stretch on the field with the Saints players. A home run hitting contest between the two teams will take place at 2:00 p.m. and the nine inning contest begins promptly at 3:10 p.m.

The game against the Owatonna Aces/Southern Minny All-Stars will help raise money for their field, concessions and restroom facilities. During the game there will be a raffle, prizes given away, a silent auction and activities for the kids.

Tickets for this special exhibition game are $7 in advance and $10 at the gate and can be purchased by calling 507-444-4321, on line at http://ci.owatonna.mn.us/parksrecreation or at Owatonna Parks and Recreation Center, 540 West Hills Circle in Owatonna.
