Saint Louis FC News Release

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Saint Louis FC earns a point on the road after a late Jermie Lynch goal equalizes the side at 1-1 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium on Saturday.

This is the second time Saint Louis and Pittsburgh end in a 1-1 draw this season. With the tie, Saint Louis is now at 3-3-4 (13 pts.) on the season, while Pittsburgh moves to 4-3-4 (16 pts.).

"What an incredibly gutsy performance from the guys," Head Coach Dale Schilly said after the game. "They endured extremely difficult travel situations yesterday. The point we earned was done on will, fortitude and a selfless commitment to their teammates."

After a scoreless first half, Pittsburgh's added pressure led to a penalty kick goal to put the hosts ahead in the 72nd minute. Midfielder Lebo Moloto sent a long cross into the box finding Stephen Okai on the far side, but a foul on defender Chad Vandegriffe sent the Riverhounds to the line. Rob Vincent lined up at the penalty spot and sent a shot past the outstretched Mark Pais to put the Riverhounds ahead 1-0.

The lead did not last long, however, as Lynch sent a header into an open Pittsburgh net to equalize in the 80th minute. Saint Louis began looking dangerous with multiple opportunities coming from Sam Fink, Charles Renken, and Jermie Lynch but none that found the back of the net. That is until Mike Ambersley's cross found the 6'1'' Lynch who outreached two defenders and goalkeeper Ryan Hulings to put a shot on and bring Saint Louis level 1-1.

Pais did well to keep the sides even with five saves on the afternoon.

Saint Louis FC returns home this Saturday, June 13 when it hosts the Harrisburg City Islanders at Marshall Wireless Stadium. Kickoff is set off for 7:30 PM.
