Belleville Bulls News Release

CALGARY, AB - Two of the Bulls' up and coming prospects are off to Calgary to attend the Canadian Under 17 Program Development Camp from July 29 - August 4th.

The camp brings together 108 players from across the nation born in 1998, including 12 goaltenders, 36 defencemen and 60 forwards. Among the 108 players are 39 representatives from the Ontario Hockey League including Bulls prospects Brandon Saigeon and Cole Candella.

The first and second round draft picks are both playing on Team Red in camp, one of the six squads participating.

The Development Camp consists of a number of on-ice and off-ice sessions and a series of intra-squad games. A total of 66 players will make up three teams formed from across the nation at the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge from November 2nd to 8th in Sarnia, Ontario. Formerly consisting of five regional teams from across Canada, the format will change this year to create Black, Red and White Canadian teams as opposed to the former geographic layout.

Of the players attending camp, just Sean Day, who was granted exceptional status in the OHL last season, is the only player with prior junior hockey experience.

The three teams will be coached by Sheldon Keefe (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds), Jean-Francois Houle (Blainville-Broisbriand Armada) and Dan Lambert (Kelowna Rockets).

Saigeon and Candella will be in Belleville for Bulls Hockey Schools this month before opening camp with the team on Wednesday, August 27th.
