Saginaw Spirit Fall to Mississauga Steelheads 4-2

The Saginaw Spirit took the ice in a matchup against Mississauga on the road at the Hershey Centre, falling to the Steelheads in a 4-2 decision.

The Saginaw Spirit and Mississauga Steelheads turned in a quiet first period with the only goal coming from Saginaw's Jimmy Lodge at the 18:09 mark, with the assists coming from Jacob Ringuette and Mitchell Stephens. Shots on goal after the first favored the Steelheads 18-5.

The second period saw Mississauga tie the score at one on a goal by Michael McLeod at 5:27, with the help of Nathan Bastian. The Spirit regained the lead at 11:32 of the period on Jimmy Lodge's second goal of the night, with assists coming from Sean Callaghan and Mitchell Stephens. The Steelheads had multiple scoring opportunities that were stopped by Saginaw's starting goaltender Jake Paterson. Shots on goal after 40 minutes of play Saginaw 15, Mississauga 12.

The Steelheads netted their second goal of the game and tied the score at two shorthanded at 5:36 of the third period on a goal by Sam Babinstev. Bryson Cianfrone assisted the play. Mississauga pulled away from the Spirit after Brandon Devlin found the back of the net on a wrist shot at 17:47 of the period. Assists on the play went to Bryson Cianfrone and Sam Babinstev. Mississauga scored the final goal of the game on Saginaw's empty net at 19:29, making the final score read 4-2 Steelheads. Final shots on goal Mississauga 44, Saginaw 36.

The Spirit will return to the Dow Event Center on Saturday, November 1st when they take on Western Conference rival the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Military Appreciation Night. Puck is set to drop at 7:11 p.m.
