Greene will then play a special 12-minute set at halftime inside the stadium where he is expected to perform his songs `Medicine' and `Ball and Chain'.
"It's an honor to be selected as the entertainment for the Sacramento Mountain Lions," Greene said. "We are going to play some rock . . . and we're going to have a lot of fun."
Joe Wagoner, the director of business management for the Mountain Lions, is very excited about featuring Greene at the Mountain Lions' first home game.
"From bringing in coach (Dennis) Green to (Daunte) Culpepper we've done everything top notch to date," Wagoner said. "And seeing how entertainment is such a large part of the Mountain Lions' experience, we figured we'd start right at the top. And who better to go to than Sacramento's own Jackie Greene? Jackie is a world-class performer and we couldn't be more excited about having him kick off our inaugural game."
Greene, 27, recently released his sixth album `Till the Light Comes'. He has performed with well known artists all over the world, including Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Susan Tedeschi, Elvis Costello, Phil Lesh, Government Mule and Buddy Guy.
Look for another entertainment addition to the Sept. 25 lineup to be announced later this week.
