United Football League Kicks Off 2010 Brand Campaign

September 14, 2010 - United Football League (UFL 1) News Release

NEW YORK, NY - Tuesday, September 14 - The United Football League is launching a new national advertising campaign to drive awareness of the league, boost ticket sales and increase viewership of televised games.

The theme "Get closer to the action" represents the first work from BBDO New York since the agency was selected to be the UFL advertising and marketing partner in June. Advertising will include TV, radio, newspaper, magazine, in-stadium signage, digital and social media. It will run nationally on the UFL partner broadcast network VERSUS, HDNet and New England Sports Network (NESN), as well as in each of the league's five markets: Hartford, Las Vegas, Omaha, Orlando and Sacramento. The 2010 UFL season kicks off on Saturday, September 18.

The "Closer" adverts underline the UFL mission to allow fans to get closer to the action. UFL game broadcasts on VERSUS, HDNet and NESN take fans exclusively inside the locker room during pregame and halftime and also feature in-game interviews as cameras enjoy unprecedented sideline access to players and coaches during the game. The UFL also provides live streaming of its games on the UFL-Football.com website, boasts a rapidly increasing social media presence on sites such as Facebook and Twitter and has empowered its devotees to help determine the venue of the 2010 Championship Game through fan interaction.

An additional "Kneecaps" theme takes a slightly more surreal look at the devotion of two fans, who find a unique and ultimately painful means to ensure they are able to watch every minute of United Football League broadcasts. "Kneecaps" will feature heavily on UFL social media platforms and is expected to spread virally among the online video watching community.

SAMPLE MESSAGING

"Football season is finally almost here! Do you want to get as close to the action as these two guys? They're willing to do anything to watch a little more football."

"What hurts more: Getting pummeled by a 300-pound linebacker or getting your knee rocked by a crowbar?"

"The Florida Tuskers are finally back with a new UFL season right around the corner. Let's hope our guys don't take the same beating as the two in the latest UFL commercial!"

"It's great to have our own pro football team. The UFL season starts on Saturday when the Las Vegas Locos take on the Florida Tuskers and the Hartford Colonials host the Sacramento Mountain Lions, and they're kicking it all off with these hilarious commercials.
