
Sacramento Mountain Lions Tailgate Challenge

SACRAMENTO, CA - Monday, November 8, 2010 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions are encouraging all fans to show off their tailgate skills in the team's first Tailgate Challenge. The Challenge celebrates the Mountain Lions last home game of the 2010 season versus former San Francisco 49er and four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Jeff Garcia's Omaha Nighthawks.
FanFest begins at 5 p.m. and kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State University.
Prizes will be awarded in three categories including: Best Food, Best Mountain Lions Theme and Most Original Tailgate. Participants can enter to be considered in any or all of the categories. Winners in each category will receive four sets of 2011 season tickets and a reserved parking spot in the VIP lot.
Fans who would like to enter are encouraged to pre-register via email. Check in and late registration will be handled from 5 - 6 pm at the Tailgate Challenge tent in FanFest. Participants will each receive a special marker to display at their location. A celebrity judge will be assigned to each parking area. The area judge will tour their lot throughout the preparation period, selecting a finalist in each of the three categories to participate in the main judging.
All judges will convene in the main judging area in FanFest to select the winner from the finalists in each category. Winners will be announced at halftime. In addition to the Tailgate Challenge, six local bands will tour the parking lots performing and entertaining fans beyond the FanFest activities. Entertainment includes Renegade (A Styx cover band), Flex Flav Breakdance Crew, The Jeff Watson Band, The Mariachi Los Gavilanes, The Grant High School Drumline and Pacerettes as well as Twin McGraw and the Country Cowboys.
Members of the Sacramento Kings will also be signing autographs and shooting hoops with fans during FanFest.
Tickets for the game start at just $15, parking in the Sac State lots is an additional $5, FanFest activities are free to those attending. Game tickets are available online at www.SacMountainLions.com.
