Powell Sets New Franchise Record: Consecutive Free Throws Made
During the July 15, 2009, game at Phoenix, Monarchs forward Nicole Powell set a new franchise record for consecutive free throws made as she finished with 6-of-6 made shots from the charity stripe. She broke the former record of 38, set by herself from June 27, 2007, through Aug. 5, 2007; as of July 21, Powell has made 44-of-44 through all 16 games this season.
Double-Digit Rebounding
Sacramento has tallied 10 or more offensive rebounds in 14 of 16 games -- including a 14-game streak to start the season -- so far in 2009. Additionally, Sacramento has out-rebounded all but four of its opponents, including a tie in total rebounds with Chicago on June 30. The Monarchs individual season-high in rebounds is 10, recorded by forward Rebekkah Brunson on July 7 against the Chicago Sky.
Back End of Back-to-Back Games
The Monarchs all-time record in the second game of back-to-back match-ups is 26-30, including a 12-4 record at home and a 14-26 record on the road. Thus far in 2009, Sacramento is 0-2 in the second game; the Monarchs lost to Seattle, 80-70, on June 6 and lost to Phoenix, 115- 104 (OT), on June 13.
Sacramento faces its next back-to-back series this week as the Monarchs face the Connecticut Sun on Weds., July 22, at 4:00 p.m. PDT, then travel to New York to face the Liberty on Thurs., July 23. Tip-off at Madison Square Gardon is set for 4:30 p.m. PDT.
