RIVER CATS NOTES
The Sacramento River Cats lost tonight's game, 2-9...they are now 2-4 in their last six games...are now 13-8 in series openers, including 5-6 in series openers on the road...are also 31-25 on the road, 46-40 in night games, 44-20 when scoring first, and 22-17 when committing one error.
Joe Whitman was the starter and was dealt the loss, his third of the season...allowed four runs on five hits, with two walks and three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work...has now had back-to-back starts of 3.0-innings-or-less for the first time since August 27-September 2, 2023 with Single-A San Jose in his fourth and fifth professional career appearances.
Joel Peguero (MLR) made his first appearance since May 31 with San Francisco...threw 11-straight balls to start the seventh inning and walked the first three batters before being replaced by Wilkin Ramos...marked the second time this season a River Cats pitcher has walked the first three batters of an inning; the other being Seth Lonsway in the second inning on July 4 at El Paso.
Turner Hill (2-for-4) recorded his ninth home run of the season, a 392-foot, two-run shot to right field on his first at-bat...extended his hitting streak to 25-straight games, setting a new franchise record, surpassing Daric Barton's record of 24-straight games from June 5-29, 2007...also ties Hill for the longest hitting streak in all of the minor leagues this season...he is batting .442 (46-for-104) with 10 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 22 RBI, nine walks, eight stolen bases, a .692 slugging percentage and a 1.174 OPS during his hitting streak dating back to July 8...also knocked a double, his third consecutive game with multiple extra-base-hits...marked his 36th multi-hit game of the season, T-3rd most in Triple-A, behind Joey Meneses (39), Ryan Fitzgerald (38) and tied with Ronny Simon (36).
Parks Harber went 1-for-4...has hit safely in 22 of 25 games with the River Cats this season, batting .333 (30-for-90) with four doubles, five home runs, 21 RBI, 11 walks, two stolen bases, a .544 slugging percentage and a .954 OPS.
Jonah Cox went 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to nine-straight games...he is batting .512 (21-for-41) with three doubles, one triple, one home run, six RBI, three walks, seven stolen bases, a .707 slugging percentage and a 1.252 OPS in that span....he has hit in every game except his first with the River Cats...swiped second in the sixth inning, marking his seventh stolen base with Sacramento, tying him for seventh-most by any River Cat this season in just 10 total games.
Will Brennan went 1-for-4, singling in the ninth inning...he is batting .296 (24-for-81) with four doubles, two home runs, 15 RBI, five walks, two stolen bases, and a .757 OPS in 20 games since July 11.
