
SaberCats Sign Vaughn Jarrett

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 24, 2003) - Former Cal Poly San Luis Obispo defensive back Vaughn Jarrett, a first-team All-NCAA Division 1-AA Independent pick in 2002, today signed a two-year contract with the San Jose SaberCats, announced general manager Terry Malley.
Jarrett (5-10, 190), a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Mustangs, led the team with four interceptions and posted 11 pass breakups in 2002. He ended his career as the fifth leading interceptor in school history with 13.
Named a Division 1-AA Independent All-American following his senior season, Jarrett also competed in the 2003 Paradise Bowl as a member of the West squad.
A product of La Mirada (Calif.) High School, Jarrett led his team to a league title in 1998 with a 12-1 record and was twice named first-team all-league.
Jarrett joins Kerry Hood, Devon Banks and B.J. McNutt as players signed by the SaberCats since the league free agent signing period began on October 15,
