Crush Signs Two More Players

DENVER - The Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League has signed kicker Anthony Brenner, a four-year AFL veteran, and wide receiver Margin Hooks to free agent contracts.

Their signings bring to six the number of free agent players added to the club's roster for the 2004 season. They join fullback linebacker Rich Young, lineman Hugh Hunter and wide receivers Darcey Levy and Robert Redd as free agent signees.

Terms of their contracts were not announced.

Brenner played college football for East Carolina. He kicked for the AFL's Carolina Cobras in 1995 and 1996, and for the Arizona Rattlers in the 1997 and 1998 seasons. He made 185-of-207 extra point kicks, 89.4 percent, and 46-of-108 field goals, 42.6 percent. He made 12-of-22 field goals, with a long of 41 yards, in 1997.

Since the 1998 season Brenner has been a personal trainer for kickers.

"He is a very accomplished place kicker," Crush Coach Mike Dailey said. "He has been a very, very good kicker in our league.

"I think that over the past few years When he has been training kickers he has been able to improve on his own abilities. We brought him in for a private workout in August and were very impressed with him."

Hooks, 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, played college football at Brigham Young, where he had 189 pass receptions for 2,841 yards and 14 touchdowns. He went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp in 2001 as an undrafted rookie. The Miami Dolphins signed him to a free agent contract in 2002 and he was on the Dolphins practice squad in the 2002 season.

"Margin Hooks was a very good receiver at BYU," Dailey said. "I saw him in the Dolphins training camp and was impressed with him. I look forward to his learning the Arena game. We think he can be an outstanding receiver for us."
